Washing Your Cloth Diapers
Caring for your cloth diapers is easy too and if these simple guidelines are followed you will be sure to enjoy many years of use from your investment.
First, be sure not to use any rash or diaper ointments or creams with your cloth diapers. If this is required make sure to use a flushable liner so it doesn't get on the cloth as this will cause repelling and leaks.
Next, if the diaper is soiled, knock solids into the toilet and then store the diaper in a dry diaper pail until laundry day. Small solids remaining on the diaper will dissolve in the wash, so no toilet swishing required :) Mini-shower toilet attachments are available to rinse off soiled diapers over the toilet if you like (completely optional).
Note: if you are using pocket diapers like FuzziBunz, separate the insert from the diaper before placing in the diaper pail.
Washing/Drying your Cloth Diapers
First, run a cold rinse or soak cycle with no detergent.
Second, run a hot cycle with a cloth diaper safe detergent. Do not use bleach.
Third, if your hot wash is not automatically followed by a cold rinse, run a cold rinse cycle. This step is only necessary with a particularly dirty load.
Then tumble dry the diapers on low or hang to dry. Do not use fabric softener or pure soap. Never dry on high heat.
See...what did we tell you? Simple as a regular load of laundry.
